Happy Valentine's Day to Me
Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 9:01PM I spent Valentine's Day like any average 20-some: antique shopping. If you didn't know, Valentine's weekend is notorious amongst collectors of all sorts. I could go into my theories about why this is one of the best weekends but I'd rather discuss the gems that were discovered on this adventure in the West Michigan Antique Mall. I have to say out of all the taxidermy and cufflinks that I got my favorite finds were the records up top, a Hall and Oates best of LP and Chubby Checker Live album. This was the third time I've been to the West Michigan Antique Mall, and every time I go I'm taken over by the deep time worn colors of vintage oak furniture and beaten leather. And only in Michigan will you stare down a stuffed deer head at every turn. Exploring these hidden antique malls in the nooks of America makes me want to venture West where the relics of the past reflect the frontier days. Or even better, maybe an antiquing trip through Europe.
